Featured Rider: Jon Brown, Snowboarder

Age and Where You Live: 29, Charlotte

Email: jbrown315@mac.com

Where do you ride, and what do you like about riding there: Learned to ride @ Sugar Mountain, in NC, and it remains what i consider my "home mountain." when the snow is awesome, its super fun riding. it's home, what more can i say?

I also ride every year in vermont, generally @ stowe but this year im heading to killington.

snowshoe in WV is also always an open option for long weekends

How long have you been riding, how did you get started, what are your favorite tricks to do, and who do you ride with: My freshman year of high school, I went on a school ski trip and was convinced by my good friends that snowboarding was for me. I had no gloves, no proper pants or clothing, and im in it fifteen years later like a crazy man. my friends all think i disappear in the winter, because I am also a DJ and from December to March, im NEVER out! THe friend who taught me to ride passed away in 1997, and since then i've always ridden that first run of the day for him.

I'm a ronin rider - solo, lone wolf, etc...since my friend was killed, its always been an intensely personal experience for me. my lovely girlfriend is learning this year, and it's been really REALLY fun to just hang about on the bunny slopes learning to ride fakie and enjoying the snow with someone I love.

Fave tricks: anything where I stick the landing. lemme tell yeh, landings here in NC can be like landing on an ice rink. That gets old after a minnit!

What do you enjoy most about boarding. Any other information you would like to add. What do you ride, your favorite riders, any sponsors, what you do in your free time:

riding has consumed my winters for half of my life - checking those weather almanacs in november and getting the board tuned (or buying a new one, which is always rad), getting ready for that first snow drives me nuts. after fifteen years, im still like a kid @ christmas when it snows.

Im a DJ and electronic music producer with an undergraduate degree in anthropology from UNCC. I'm an avid audiophile, and until recently i've been working in the home a/v industry as a technical guru.

my current setup:
09 burton custom x 158
09 burton co2EST
06 burton driver X
Red Subwoofer
burton "kit"
80gb ipod
sony camera.

In my free time, aside from the stuff above, I generally wish it was winter. Or wish I had the money for New Zealand.

Emails are only to be used for contacting to ride with.
